Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB): 1
The Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) is Canada’s national standard for describing and measuring adult English as a Second Language (ESL) ability, used for immigration, citizenship, education, and employment, outlining 12 levels of proficiency from basic to advanced based on what learners can do in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, rather than just grammar or vocabulary.
Overview
COURSE DESCRIPTION
CLB 1 integrated skills” refers to the English language activities and tasks along with the related programs that merge four language skills, namely, LISTENING, SPEAKING, READING, and WRITING, based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) 1 proficiency level. Based on the CLB learning goals, we do our best to mirror real-life communication skills people need to live better in Canada. CLB 1 represents an initial, basic level of English language proficiency for adult ESL learners. At this stage, learners have very limited ability and rely heavily on support, gestures, and visual clues. At CLB 1, learners have limited abilities in all four skills.
