Overview
This course explores one of the most common yet often overlooked challenges in language education: the emotional barriers that can prevent learners from fully participating and communicating in English. This course is designed for ESL/EFL teachers, pre-service teachers, and language educators who want to better understand learner psychology and create more supportive English classrooms. Through research-informed video lessons, presentation slides, practical classroom examples, reflection activities, and additional resources, participants will explore the concept of foreign language anxiety, its causes, and its impact on learners’ confidence, motivation, and willingness to communicate. The course provides practical strategies for recognizing signs of anxiety, creating psychologically supportive learning environments, giving effective feedback, and designing classroom activities that encourage participation and confident language use. By the end of the course, teachers will gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between emotions and language learning and develop practical tools to help learners overcome anxiety and engage more actively in English communication.
